WHAT YOUR RESULT MEANS
What does your testosterone level mean? Two numbers decide it.
Total testosterone is measured on an early-morning, fasting blood sample and repeated to confirm. These action levels come from the British Society for Sexual Medicine (BSSM).
TOTAL TESTOSTERONE · nmol/L · BSSM ACTION LEVELS

12
30+
Below 8 — usually low
With symptoms, and confirmed on a repeat sample, testosterone treatment is usually appropriate.
8 to 12 — the grey zone
Free testosterone is calculated, and a carefully monitored trial may be considered.
Above 12 — normal range
Treatment isn’t indicated. Something else is causing your symptoms — we’ll help you find out what.
Early-morning, fasting blood sample, repeated to confirm. Ranges are a guide — your clinician interprets your result alongside your symptoms and history.
IN PLAIN ENGLISH
What testosterone does — and what low T really is
Testosterone is the main male hormone. It’s made mostly in the testicles, controlled by two signals from the brain — LH and FSH — and drives energy, muscle, mood, libido and erections.
Levels fall gently with age, but a genuine deficiency is different: a consistently low level together with symptoms. It can start in the testicles or in the brain’s signalling — and the cause matters.
Weight, sleep apnoea, alcohol, some medicines and illness can all lower testosterone. Sometimes fixing those is the treatment — which is why we look before we prescribe. When a genuine deficiency is confirmed, the treatment is testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), started and monitored by a clinician.
“Low testosterone is real and treatable. But it’s diagnosed on blood tests and symptoms together — never on a questionnaire alone.”
Feeling tired doesn’t always mean low T
Tiredness and low drive have many causes. We’ll help you find the real one — and only recommend treatment when it’s clinically right for you.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Common symptoms of low testosterone
Easy to blame on work, age or stress. These are the ones that most often point to a hormone problem.
Symptoms alone don’t diagnose low T — they tell us it’s worth testing properly.

BEING STRAIGHT WITH YOU
When TRT isn't the right treatment
We won't start TRT if:
You’re trying for a baby, or might be in the next year or two — TRT switches off sperm production.
You have, or have had, prostate or breast cancer — that decision belongs with your specialist team.
Testosterone treatment can transform how men with a genuine deficiency feel. It isn’t right for everyone — and we’ll tell you when. If that’s what we find, you get a clear explanation and a route forward: lifestyle changes, a referral, or a letter to your GP.
Your red cell level (haematocrit) is already high, or you have untreated severe sleep apnoea, uncontrolled heart failure, or a heart attack or stroke in the last six months.
Something else explains it — weight, sleep, alcohol, thyroid problems, diabetes, depression and some medicines cause many of the same symptoms.
A REAL CLINIC, A REAL PERSON
Men’s health online, with a real clinic behind it
We’re a diagnostics clinic first. Your full blood profile is taken properly, from a vein, by a professional — and every result is reviewed by a clinician.
Every patient gets WhatsApp access to our clinic team during opening hours — for results, appointments, or something you noticed. If it needs the clinician, we pass it on and come back to you.
It isn't an emergency line. Anything urgent goes to NHS 111 or 999.

Morning — my 3 month review is on the 14th. Do I need bloods before it?

Yes — testosterone, haematocrit and PSA. Book an early-morning slot at a clinic near you; I’ll send the link now.
09:20
Thanks. My partner says I’m snoring a lot more since starting. Is that relevant?
09:22 ✓✓
Thank you for telling us — that's worth a proper look. I'll pass it to the clinician today and we'll call you back.

THE PATHWAY
How our testosterone service works
Each one is a decision point. You can stop at any of them, and many men have the answer they need before step four.
1
At-home hormone screen
A ten-marker blood test you take at home, including total and free testosterone, SHBG, LH and FSH. It tells us whether a full assessment is worth doing — it doesn’t diagnose on its own.
ANYWHERE IN THE UK · POSTED TO YOU · RESULTS IN DAYS
2
Full male hormone profile
Venous bloods at a clinic near you, taken early in the morning: repeat testosterone with free testosterone, plus haematocrit, PSA, prolactin, thyroid, HbA1c, lipids and liver — the safety baseline before any treatment.
CLINIC NEAR YOU · EARLY-MORNING SAMPLE · 15 MINUTES
3
Consultation with the clinician
Your symptoms, history and both results, gone through properly — in the room at Crewe, or by video wherever you are. It may or may not lead to a prescription; that decision is made together.
IN PERSON OR BY VIDEO · 30 MINUTES · CLINIC LETTER FOR YOU AND YOUR GP
4
Treatment, if it’s appropriate
If treatment is clinically appropriate, your clinician explains the options and the benefits and risks for you. Prescriptions are dispensed and posted by our partner pharmacy, and charged by us when issued.
ONLY IF CLINICALLY INDICATED · PRESCRIBED, NOT SOLD
5
Monitoring at 3, 6 and 12 months, then yearly
Testosterone, haematocrit and PSA rechecked, symptoms and side effects reviewed, and the dose adjusted on the evidence — as the BSSM guideline recommends.
