What this test can and cannot tell you • It gives a full picture of your reproductive and thyroid hormones, and checks for the conditions most often mistaken for perimenopause — thyroid disease, iron deficiency, anaemia, B12 or vitamin D deficiency and raised blood sugar. • It cannot on its own confirm or rule out perimenopause. Hormone levels swing considerably from cycle to cycle, so a single FSH or oestradiol result is not a diagnosis — particularly if you are still having periods.
