The hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc) is a blood marker that indicates past or current infection with the hepatitis B virus (HBV). What the Test Detects The test looks for antibodies against the core of the Hepatitis B virus. There are two types: • IgM → shows recent or acute infection • IgG → shows past infection (stays positive for life) Every sample is analysed by our UKAS-accredited laboratory, and every result includes clinician interpretation in a clear, comprehensive report.
