Service Description
CRP is a protein your liver makes, and the level in your blood rises when there is inflammation somewhere in the body. This is a high-sensitivity CRP test (hsCRP), which measures it accurately even at the low levels used to assess cardiovascular risk, as well as picking up the higher levels seen with infection and inflammatory conditions. A raised CRP tells you inflammation is present but not where it is coming from, so a result is read alongside your symptoms and history rather than on its own. For heart risk it is normally interpreted together with cholesterol and other lipid markers, not by itself. People commonly book this test to monitor a known inflammatory condition, alongside a heart health or cholesterol profile, or to check that inflammation has settled after an infection. No fasting is needed and you do not need a GP referral. We take a venous sample — a standard blood draw from the arm, not a finger-prick — at our CQC-registered clinic in Crewe or at partner clinics across the UK. If you feel acutely unwell, please see a doctor rather than waiting on a test result. A result is not a diagnosis. Every report includes clinician interpretation, and if anything needs acting on we will tell you what to do next. That covers the appointment, the blood draw and your report, with no separate clinic fee on top. Do I need a GP referral? No. You can book directly with us. Can I get a same-day appointment? Often, yes, but it depends on the clinic and the day. Our Crewe clinic has the most availability. Partner clinics vary, and some open only a few days a week, so same-day is not always possible there. Get in touch first thing in the morning and we will tell you what is free today and where. Do I need to fast beforehand? No. You can eat and drink as normal. Other clinic sites are managed by Randox Health, offering a range of healthcare services. Patients receive appointment confirmations via their preferred communication method, detailing time, date, and staff availability. If confirmation is not received, the appointment will not proceed. We reserve the right to cancel appointments with less than 24 hours' notice due to unforeseen circumstances. Patients should check confirmation messages for updates and contact the clinic if they need to reschedule or need assistance. All services must be paid for in advance, and an invoice will be sent upon appointment confirmation.
